About Ahmar Shakir, DO
Dr. Ahmar Shakir is a board certified, fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon with more than 25 years of clinical experience. He completed his fellowship training at Christine Kleinert Institute for Hand and Microvascular Surgery in Louisville, Kentucky. After receiving his medical degree from UMDNJ School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, New Jersey, Dr. Shakir completed his residency at the Peninsula Hospital Consortium in Far Rockaway, New York.
Dr. Shakir focuses on surgeries of the upper extremities, such as carpal tunnel, trigger finger, and rotator cuff repair, and the lower extremities, including ACL reconstruction, knee replacement and foot and ankle surgeries.
Prior to joining Capital Health, Dr. Shakir worked in private practice in the Mercer County area. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics, the Medical Society of New Jersey and the Mercer County Medical Society.
