Joyce Varughese, MD, FACOG

Dr. Joyce Varughese is a board certified, fellowship trained gynecologic oncology surgeon also trained in robotic surgery. Dr. Varughese completed her fellowship training in gynecologic oncology and residency in obstetrics and gynecology, serving as administrative chief resident, at Yale University. She received her medical degree at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York and her undergraduate degree magna cum laude from Harvard University. Her clinical focus is on pre-cancers and cancers of the female reproductive tract. She performs specialized cancer surgery and also cares for women with hereditary syndromes that increase the risk of gynecologic malignancy. She has an interest in complementary medicine, quality of life issues amongst gynecologic cancer survivors, and global health.

In addition to her clinical experience, Dr. Varughese is a clinical assistant professor at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine in New Jersey, and received a teaching award from the OB/GYN Residency Program at Saint Peter’s University Hospital. She has frequently been invited to lecture and present research at local, regional, and international medical conferences and has multiple peer-reviewed publications in Cancer, Gynecologic Oncology and other journals. She is a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Varughese is also active in the International Gynecologic Cancer Society and serves as an international site mentor for the gynecologic oncology fellowship program and a visiting professor at the Uganda Cancer Institute.

She currently serves as medical director of Gynecologic Oncology at Capital Health Medical Center - Hopewell in New Jersey and has been accredited as a Surgeon of Excellence in Robotic Surgery and Minimally Invasive Gynecology by the Surgical Review Corporation.
