Jooyeun Chung, MD

Dr. Jooyeun Chung is a fellowship trained bariatric and hepatobiliary-pancreatic surgeon who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of metabolic disorders and complex diseases of the liver, pancreas, and biliary system. Her practice includes a focus on minimally invasive gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, revisional bariatric surgery, minimally invasive gastrointestinal and hepato-pancreato-biliary procedures for cancer and benign disease, and other surgical interventions designed to treat obesity, diabetes, and complex gastrointestinal conditions.

Dr. Chung completed her fellowship training in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery and minimally invasive surgery at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, where she also completed her internship and residency in general surgery. She received her medical degree from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine and is board certified by the American Board of General Surgery.

Prior to joining Capital Health, Dr. Chung was a surgeon on staff and clinical instructor in surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (Harvard Medical School) in Boston, Massachusetts. She is a member of various honorary medical societies, including the American College of Surgeons, the American Hernia Society, the Society of Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and the American Society of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery. An expert in robotic-assisted surgery, Dr. Chung has performed more than 1,000 procedures using the da Vinci Surgical System.
